Reimagining Urban Spaces in Central Ninth
Welcome to the Mead Avenue Underpass Plaza Project! We're excited to transform the space under the freeway overpass on Mead Avenue into a vibrant community plaza. Our vision is to create a welcoming, functional, and aesthetically pleasing area that serves the diverse needs of our Central Ninth neighborhood. Community Lead Community Engaged
This project is a grassroots movement. Resident's in the community pitched the idea to UDOT and the City. They are now considering making large public investments to create a community space. We need to let our city and state know that we want a space for our community to play, relax and gather together. That's why we want you, our community members, to provide your input on what you'd like to see in the new underpass plaza. Your ideas and feedback are crucial in helping us create a space that reflects our collective vision and shows that we want to reimagine our urban environment into something we can all share. |
About the Project
Our neighborhood is rapidly redeveloping, attracting a younger demographic, a variety of housing types, and innovative startups. This transformation brings a unique opportunity to reimagine our urban spaces. Too long has the off ramp for 9th south split this community and created an unused eye sore. This new plaza under the overpass will offer a place for connection, relaxation, recreation, and community gatherings, enhancing the charm of Central Ninth and Ballpark neighborhoods. |
